A bedroom often needs to do more than provide a place to sleep. It may also be your study area, reading corner, dressing space or occasional home office. However, fitting all those roles into one room can be a challenge.
SpaceSave’s BedBridge Bed Desks offer a practical way to make better use of the space you already have. These rolling over-bed desks create a useful surface above your bed, then move into another position when your plans change.
With Compact, Queen and King models, you can choose around your bed size and room layout. Plain and guard-rail versions give you further choice. Here’s how the range can help you create a bedroom that works more comfortably around everyday life.
Many roles. One clever solution.
Breakfast together without watching the clock. A game of cards with the children. Sitting beside your daughter while she shows you what she has drawn.
These are ordinary moments, but they can be the best part of the day. And sometimes, all you need is somewhere comfortable to enjoy them.
Pack in a study session. A few hours of work. Somewhere to get ready before going out. Your bedroom can play several parts in a day—and thoughtful furniture helps it move between them.
The SpaceSave BedBridge gives you a table where you need it. Roll it over the bed for a relaxed evening together, or place it against a wall for breakfast, work or study. It can also serve as a dressing table or a useful surface at the foot of the bed.
One piece of furniture, with plenty of ways to use it. Here are seven to picture in your own home.
What is a rolling over-bed desk?
A rolling over-bed desk has a tabletop that spans the bed, with supports and wheels on either side. Unlike a laptop tray resting on your lap or bedding, it stands on the floor and provides a separate surface for everyday activities.
The BedBridge has four wheels, including two lockable wheels. It comes in Compact, Queen and King sizes, with a choice of 75cm or 90cm height and a flat top or guard-rail design.
Its flexibility comes from changing the position – be it over the bed, at the foot of the bed or against the wall.
7 ways to make your bedroom more versatile
1. Enjoy breakfast together
There is something lovely about a morning when nobody needs to rush. Coffee, something to eat, and time to finish a conversation.
The BedBridge can be a breakfast table against the wall, with seating that suits its height. It gives you a place to sit together in the bedroom, whether that is a mother and daughter catching up or a couple enjoying a quiet Sunday morning.
And for those mornings when staying under the duvet feels like the better idea, it can roll over the bed for breakfast there instead.
The same table works for a relaxed dinner, too. Where you use it is up to you.
2. Bring everyone together for a game
A game of cards has a way of turning “just one round” into a whole afternoon. There is laughter, a little friendly competition, and usually someone who insists on a rematch.
With the BedBridge at the foot of the bed, you have a shared surface for cards or a board game while everyone settles in around it. The bed becomes another place to spend time together, with a table for the game between you.
It is an easy way to enjoy the room differently, especially on a rainy weekend or an evening when everyone feels like staying in.
3. Make time for drawing, reading and being together
Sometimes a child wants company as much as help. Sitting beside them while they draw, colour or tell you about their day can be a pleasure in itself.
The BedBridge provides a surface for that shared activity without needing to move to another room. There is somewhere for the colouring book or sketchpad, and you can sit together on the bed.
It is just as useful when you want some time to yourself. Read, write in a journal or spend an hour on a creative project. Your bedroom can be somewhere to enjoy a hobby as well as somewhere to sleep.
4. Create a place to get ready
A dressing table is useful, but you may prefer furniture that can do more than one job.
Position the BedBridge against a wall with a mirror, and it becomes somewhere to do your make-up or get ready for an evening out.
At the foot of the bed, it can also give you somewhere to lay out an outfit or organise what you are taking on a trip.
You can have a place for these everyday tasks without needing a separate piece of furniture for each one.
5. Give study time its own space
A student’s bedroom holds much of their life: sleep, friends, hobbies and, of course, studying.
The BedBridge adds a surface for a laptop, textbooks and notes. Against a wall with suitable seating, it can serve as a study desk. The over-bed position offers another option for shorter activities, such as going through notes or reading.
For children and teenagers, it can provide somewhere for homework while keeping the room free for everything else they enjoy.
The benefit is choice. The desk can be positioned where it works best for the person using it and the room they have.
6. Work from home without a separate office
You may need a desk for regular work, a few online meetings or the household accounts. That does not always mean you need a room devoted to an office.
The BedBridge can be used against a wall as a workspace, with seating suited to the height you choose. It gives your laptop and paperwork a proper surface in a room you already have.
When you want to use it differently, roll it into another position. The same furniture can be your work desk during the day and a table for something more enjoyable later.
For longer work sessions, choose a seated arrangement that suits you rather than relying on working from bed.
7. Make a guest bedroom useful between visits
It is lovely to have somewhere for friends or family to stay. It is also useful when that room can serve a purpose while nobody is visiting.
The BedBridge can provide a desk for work or study between stays. When guests arrive, it gives them somewhere for their clothes, a laptop, a book or breakfast, depending on the room’s layout.
In a guest house or Airbnb, it offers visitors that same flexibility. Someone might want to answer emails at a desk; someone else might prefer a slow breakfast in bed.
One table can make the room useful in several ways, while it still feels like a welcoming bedroom.
How to choose your BedBridge
Choose in this order: bed size → height → colour → flat top or rail top.
1. Start with your bed size
SpaceSave’s current range gives buyers three width options.
Model | Bed sizes | Overall width | Internal width | Product page |
BedBridge Compact | Single and Three-Quarter | 130cm | 123cm
BedBridge Queen | Double and Queen | 180cm | 173cm
BedBridge King | King | 210cm | 203cm |
2. Choose the right height
The BedBridge is available with a 75cm or 90cm tabletop height.
The 75cm version is a standard desk-height option for use with a suitable office or dining chair. It can also fit over beds where there is enough clearance.
The 90cm version provides more height for taller beds or thicker bedding. Against a wall, it can be used as a higher desk or dining surface with suitable bar stools.
Measure your bed with its mattress and usual bedding and allow room for your legs beneath the tabletop. These are fixed-height options; the desk does not adjust between the two heights.
3. Pick your colour
Choose White for a light, fresh look, or Midnight for a darker finish that adds contrast.
Think about the furniture and colours already in your bedroom. Both finishes can work with a range of styles; choose the one you would enjoy seeing in your room every day.
Other colours will be available on the website from time to time.
4. Choose a flat top or guard-rail top
The flat top has open edges, giving you easy access to the surface from all sides and a smooth, clean look.
The rail top adds raised edges at the back and sides to help keep smaller items from sliding off. The front stays open for access.
The rails extend 6cm above the tabletop. A 75cm-high table therefore has an overall height of 81cm with rails; a 90cm-high table has an overall height of 96cm with rails. The working height remains 75cm or 90cm.
Measure the outside of your bed frame, including any duvets that extend beyond the mattress. Then match it to the internal width shown above.
A final check: will it fit your room?
Allow space beside the bed for the supports and wheels, and check that you can move the table past bedside furniture, rugs and any raised footboard. If you plan to use it against a wall, allow room for the seating too.
If you would like help choosing, send SpaceSave your bed measurements and a photograph of the room. Our local team can help you work through the options.
More ways to enjoy the room you already have
A bedroom can be somewhere to share breakfast, spend time with the children, get ready for an evening out or finish the day’s work.
The BedBridge gives those activities a useful place, with a table you can roll into another position when you need it elsewhere.

When choosing the BedBridge Bed Desks, match the model to the complete bed frame and the room around it. The largest model isn’t automatically the most useful choice.

Yes. The BedBridge is locally manufactured, with local support and a six-month warranty.
Yes. The Compact, Queen and King range includes plain and guard-rail versions. The plain top is a complete design choice for buyers who prefer an open surface. Choose rails if their raised boundary suits your intended use. Base the decision on your routine and preferred appearance, rather than assuming one version is better for everyone.
Flooring affects how a wheeled desk moves. Thick rugs and long-pile carpets can make repositioning harder. Check the entire route, including rug edges and any uneven areas. The product information lists two lockable wheels; use them as instructed when the desk is positioned for a task.
The product listings offer a choice of 75cm or 90cm heights. Treat these as separate product selections when ordering. Don’t assume that one desk changes between both heights. Measure your complete bed setup and check the underside clearance in the selected model’s drawings before deciding which version is suitable.
A wall position can be useful when the room has enough space and the selected height works with your seating. Check that you can sit comfortably, reach your equipment and move the chair without blocking another route. Also plan where the desk will go when you want to return it to an over-bed position.

Clean with a damp cloth and avoiding standing water. For everyday upkeep, wipe spills promptly and dry the surface afterwards. You can use household cleaner or nail polish remover for difficult to clean spots.
